  1. In the townland of Rathcoffey is situated the "Green Parlour".It is a small green garden or field, surrounded on all sides by high ditches, The Glengahen river flows down beside it. It is not much to look at now,but in the penal times Holy Mass was celebrated there on many occasions. That was the time when Mass had to be said secretly and a price was on a priests head. Crowds of people gathered from bog and mountain at a neighbouring house,Now owned by a Mr,Dunne, waiting for the Priest to come up by a secret route. When all was ready they thronged down secretly to hear Mass. Someone had to be on the look out
