- The Fairy Ring,or Druids Ring,as it is now called is situated in the Slieve Bloom Mountains.Centuries ago the old Irish warriors and chiefs assembled there,and held their meetings. It was a building composed of double walls round in shape. In the outer walls there were small slits or openings,which served as spy holes so that an approaching enemy could be seen, There was also the inner chamber,where they retired and shut themselves in,when attacked at close quarters.
