  1. Local Cures
    Whooping Cough. An ass was got which was rearing an ass foal and it was taken into the house where the children had the whooping cough. The children were taken and put over the donkeys back and under it three times. Then the donkey was milked and the milk was given to the children. Then this was done the whooping cough was cured.
    The way that the mumps were cured long ago is in the following manner. The person who had the mumps was got and a donkey halter was put on his head. Some one led him into the pig sty.
    My father has the cure of the sprain. When he got it he was
