    butter is made. Because the beaters get heavy and they will not go around when the butter is on them. In summer when the butter is solf Cold water is poured in before it is quite gathered and it will not be as soft then. When the churn is made the milk is taken out and put on it until it is quite clean. The salt is put in it then, and it is worked with the paddles until the salt is all through it.
    If anyone enters when churning they say, "God bless your work. Never churn on May day because the fairies would take the butter. Buttermilk is used for making bread when fresh when fresth it is a few days old it is given to pigs or mixed with fresh milk for calves. People drink buttermilk if the day is hot because it takes the thirst off then is is freah.
