   one day. His brother William Walsh was also a good mower.
   Michael Curran of Ballyreddy, God rest him, was another great mower. Every day he would mow one acre at his ease. He cut corn one time in Inistioge and there was a woman from Inistioge, whose name I do not know, taking it out and binding it. When he was taking the last draw of the scythe she was waiting to bind the last sheaf. She used to get two days pay for one.
   John Maher of Derrylackey (69 years old) is a famous storyteller and poet. He would make a poem out of nothing and he would tell funny stories galore, and other stories too, but the funny ones are his favourites. Here is a story he told me one time:-

   "A little boy broke a window one time with a ball and a police man caught him and was bringing him to gaol, and he had to pass by two cross roads. All his school friends were on the cross and Tommy had the ball under his arm. The boys asked Tommy what did he do.
   "Nothing," said Tommy, "I am only going to play for the police."

   My grandfather was a famous singer, (God rest him). His favourite songs were, "When I
