    1. There were three brothers walking along the road one day. When they were coming near a churchyard the first brother said, "I must go in and say a few prayers over my brother's son." The second brother said the same. The third brother said, "I have no brother's son to pray over."
    He was the father.
    2. As I was walking through a field one day I saw a thing.
    'Twas neither fish, flesh, feather nor bone,
    And in three weeks time it walked alone.
    An egg.
    3. As round as an apple,
    As plump as a ball,
    Can climb the church,
    Over steeple and all.
    The moon.
    4. As I went out in a slobbery gap,
    I met my Uncle Davey.
    With an iron nose and timber toes,
    And 'pon my word he would frighten the crows.
    A gun.
