    The smith used many tools, he used an anvil, hammer, pritchel, tongs, cutter, and many other tools. He attached the handle to the sprong, reaping-hook, spade, shovels, and bill-hooks by clinching the handle to the iron. A pritchel was used for making holes. A cutter was used for cutting nails, and tongs were used for taking iron out of the fire.
