   St Patrick's day. The custom on St Patrick's day was to eat fish. On Easter Sunday eggs were eaten. Pancakes were eaten on Shrove Tuesday, Shraft Tuesday was another name for it. May was considered an unlucky month to get married. Rice was eaten on St Stephen's Day instead of meat. On May morning it was the custom to take beastings to the neighbours' houses. Salt was put by them in the bucket when returning it. Matches were made in this district. Money or (fields) land was given as dowry. It was the custom for collicks to come to wedding feast they danced and sang but did not take any money.
