An old custom around here is to give pipes & tobacco & snuff to people at a wake. Everyone is supposed to take a puff of the pipe.
When a corpse is being taken out the morning of the funeral it's a custom to rest the coffin on two chairs in the street. When it is lifted again the chairs are tossed and remain there for the rest of the day.
