  1. A Story
One night a man named Pat Cronin was returning from Kilkenny on a saddled horse. It was very late in the night and as he was coming near Meentogues school he met a spirit and she did not speak to him but mounted the horse behind him. The horse wasn't gone far when he began to sweat and stopped. The man spoke and told the woman come off and she would not. He jumped off the horse and broke a fuize bush and started beating the woman until the stick broke. The then spirit came off the horse too and tied the man with a rope in such a way that he could not move. Then she turned herself into a wind of hay and smothered her victim.
