- Once upon at time Eoghan Ruadh O'Sullivan went to service to a man named Moynihan of Rathmore. The people at that time carried their butter and oats to Cork to sell Eoghan Ruadh's master had fever but Eoghan said he would go. He got an old coat and made buttons from a shoe and sowed them on his coat and then made a hair spancel and tied it round his waist.
At that time a robber lived in Glenflesk and he robbed the people on their way home. AT this time people went to Cork with pikes in their cars. When Eoghan reached there the clerk weighed the oats. He paid Eoghan who said that he did not get his right and he said that he would bet the pieces of the load of oats that he didn't. Thelatter sent for the bank clerk and he made up the sum and Eoghan was right. He was out only one eight of a penny. Then Eoghan Ruadh said that he would bet the load of oats again that he was the smartest man in the fair. The latter replied that that he would bet that he wasn't. The latter sent for the Bishop who said each of them would ask three questions. The Bishop as the first(continues on next page)
