  1. Bread was made from wheat, oats and meal. The wheat and oats were ground locally. My grandmother remembers querns being used in the district. We have half-one yet.
    Potato cake and stamp were also made in the district. Potato cake was made from potatoes, flour, salt and milk. Add the milk and salt to the potatoes then the flour was added to the potatoes, then it was kneaded and baked on a hot griddle.
    Stampy was made almost the same way as potato cake. Raw potatoes were grated and mixed with flour and baked on a hot griddle.
