    in Glennageenty district. These are Seán Taidhg óg of Tureen, Dick Burke of Grawnmore, Morgan McElligott of Kielbawn and Mike Breen of Cahir. These are now dead.

  2. One of the greatest of our local heroes was Maurice Reidy of Knocknavane, Ballymacelligott. He was a great strong man and the best stone thrower in the parish. The throwing of the 1½ cwt. was his hobby. The expert walker was Thomas Prendeville. He used to walk to fairs in Killarney and in Listowel without any difficulty. He walked it is said six miles in half an hour. His address was Rathanny, Tralee.
