- There was a terrible fall of snow about 22 years ago. I almost covered some houses that were built in valleys or low places. It blocked the road in several places and made it impossible for people to pass.
My fathers aunt died during that snow and a lot of men had to go the day before th efuneral to shovel a pass through the snow to ballymote. In places you could not see hedges or ditches at all.
You could walk straight in to Collooney from our house in the snow without crossing hegges or ditches at all.(continues on next page)
