baked was a griddle. It was made in the forge. It was an iron plate very hollowed in the centre with a handle attached. The Oat meal bread was always made standing up in front of the fire. It was supported by an iron called a grid iron. This grid-iron was made out of wire plaited together. It was about the size of the lid of an oven and there were two pieces of wide coming down from the top of the iron and two cornors turned on them, and by means of these two pieces of wire it could be put standing up in front of the fire.
Potato bread was made on Hollow Eve because the people used to say it was Potato cake night.
At Chis Christmas every rich person bought a stone or two of flour for himself, and at any other time of the year they had, Potato bread, Oat meal bread and Boxty, because they could not afford anything else
