This happened at Aughacashel many years ago. My uncle and another man was coming from a fair. as the night came on very wet, they called at a strange house for shelter, and the man of the house invited them to stay for the night and they were very glad to stay.When bedtime came, the man of the house took down a pitchfork, and he told the two men that every night at a certain time there comes a terrible noise through the house. When they were just settling down to sleep the noise came, it was like the engine of an aeroplane when started.(continues on next page)
