   There's a beautiful island about a half mile from our house Kiltybarden, Ballinamore, Co.Leitrim, called Wood Island its not exactly surrounded by water there is an entrance to it from the main road. There are people living there now name Lytles. It contains 300 acres of land, some of it rock, pasture and moor-land. About one hundred years ago, there lived a protest and lady named Vida who was a very bigoted person, on this island in a beautiful castle. After her death, her ghost used to appear in the castle and in a large domain which would be the death of anyone to pass after mid - night.
   She used to appear in the form a big black hand called "[?][?][?][?]", and anyone who passed by this domain after 12 o'clock was struck by the [?][?][?] and would die immediately after the happening, and their bodies would turn into [?].
   many people passed that island without knowing it was haunted, and met with their unexpecting death.
   After many years a young lord became - - an heir to this island, - and when he discovered the strange story that he nearly residence he thought he would never have peace while such a demon was about the island. One day he told his workmen of his castle being haunted, and he
