  1. A strong man named "Thomas O'Dowd" lived in the top of Arigna Co. Leitrim. He lived about the year 1852.
    One day when Thomas and four other men were in the coal mine, They were walking under the platform when it fell on them. Thomas got under the platform and lifted it on his back. Thomas told the men to get out when they had the chance and bring in supports for the platform.
    The men brought supports for the platform and they put them under it.
    When the men came out they thanked him for saving their lives.
    Next day they were sports held in Drumshambo near Arign
