  1. In Carranagheey long ago there lived an old woman who was a great spinner. She used to go to all the villages around to spin for anyone that wanted her. Her name was Mrs. Keely.
    She used to stay for a week or so in every house or whatever length it would take to do the spinning. She used to get six-pence or seven-pence a day as wages for her work. At Christmas all the people that she was spinning for during the year would give her a good Christmas box, this would help her to get her wants for the year.
