  1. Long ago people used never wear shoes until they would be sixteen or twenty years of age. Peggy Devine of Owenwee and Mrs. O'Malley of Letterbrock never wore a shoe in their life. The children of the present day go barefoot in Summer and Autumn. Dirty water should not be threw out on the threshold at night because there is a woman under it and if you wet her she will curse you.
If people have to throw out water at night they should say "Huggy, Huggy". We have no shoemakers or cobblers in this district.
