- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the churn for a while. They believed that if they did not turn the churn they would take the butter. It takes from ten minutes to half an hour to churn. It is done by hand. The churn is turned in a rolling motion. The way the people know when the butter is done, because they see the butter seperating from the butter-milk. The butter is lifted out with a wooden dish, and put into a wooden tub, and washed with water, and salt is mixed through it. The butter-milk is used for making bread.
