  1. There was an old Hedge School in Ballycar near Mr. Hannons. The roof was off for nine years but now it is repaired.
    There was a school called the "Soupers school near Willam Meehans of Ralahine and the children that would turn protestants could go to that school and every day they would get soup and bread. In olden times school used to be held at night in every neighbourhood.
    The teacher used to stay in a different house every night.
