It was a gold ring with her initials on it. The funeral was just approaching the grave-yard when he arrived; he galloped through the cortege of cars and people and they had just laid the coffin on the edge of the grave. He told them not to lower it or throw earth on it until he would see what was inside in it. He gave the token to give to the girl's brother. They opened the coffin and in it they found an old broom. Her brother came back along with Savoury Flanagan, for that was the name the rescuer was called by after and took his sister home with him. She belonged to a very respectable family. This is a true story, as I have heard old people telling the story.
