- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)a cobweb and put it up to it to stop the bleeding and if a child got a burn it would be taken out and rolled in the sink-hole. If a person got a thorn a fox's tongue would be put up to it for a short time and it was supposed to draw out the thorn. A cure for a toothache was to rub a live frog from along your teeth. If a person had a boil or swelling would get some cow-dung and boil it with some new milk and put it on as a plaster. People had several cures for warts, one was to steal a bit of fat meat from a neighbour and rub it to the warts, and then bury it in the ground and as the meat is rotting away so are the warts wearing away. The old people used to say that if a boy got a live hay-mouse and rubbed him to his face, he need never shave, as the beard would not grow after the mouse.
