“Once upon a time my grandfather had no seed oats, ...”
The following story is supposed to have really happened. The child who wrote it was Josephine Burns and her Grandfather's name is Henry Keely, Greagh, Monaghan.Once upon a time, my grandfather had no seed oats, and he did not know what to do. He went to another man's house for to buy corn, but he had no money to pay for it. Along the road he thought to himself that he would be refused, but he took courage and went on. On his way he had to pass by a fort which is called "Blackraw". At the turn of the lane he met a little fairy man, dressed in a red jacket, green trousers, and a green cap. The little man stopped him and asked him where he was going. HE said he was going to his neighbour's house for the lone of a bag of seed corn. The little man said he would not get it, but he told my grandfather to come back to the same place on the next night and he would get a bag of corn.
