A gentleman and lady lived in a house near Borisokane. They had a parrot which they always kept in a cage. The lady used take snuff which she kept in the parlour.
One day there was nobody in the house only the parlourmaid and cook. The cook was longing for a pinch of the snuff but she could not get it because the parrot was there.
Then she thought of a plan so she went out to the garden and picked pocketfuls of peas. Then she came in and got a black cloth and put two holes in them for their eyes, and threw peas at the parrot while taking the snuff.
When they came home the parot said "O they took the snuff", and she said "who?", "O the face of it" then she said "when?", the parrot said "When it was raining the peas." When it was raining the peas".- Bailitheoir
