- There are many festival customs kept in this district.
On St. Patrick's day, people wear shamrock in their hats. Then in the evening they "drown" them. St. Patrick died on the 17th March.
St. Brigid's day is the first day of February.
Shrove Tuesday is the day before Lent. Pancakes are made, and eaten that night. Sometimes it is called "Pancake Tuesday".
On Easter Sunday, some children pack up a basket full of tea, sugar, bread, cups and saucers, a teapot, and also some eggs, butter, and milk. Then they make a fire and prepares the tea. They boil the eggs and have a picnic in some field.
Some people in this district think that it is unlucky to sleep on Whitsunday or Monday night.
