- Not many people remember the big wind storm which was in eighteen thirty nine. I heard Patrick Cooney of Carrickacromin say that the storm began about seven oclock at night and it lasted until the next day.
This storm took away roofs off houses. Many trees were knocked on the night of the big wind and the potato pits were also knocked. The ricks of hay and oats were also scattered through the country on that night.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
