On May eve night at twelve o'clock the "bracken" see falls and anyone who wishes to solve the mystery about the "bracken" seed must be there at the minute of mid-night and catch three pates of seed. Anyone who is soldier enough to do this will be rich afterwards. This is hard done as the fairies are there clapping their hands to prevent the person from taking it.

There is a story of a woman in this country who used to change herself into a hare and go and steal the butter off the milk and this day a certain man beheld her in the byre milking the cow and he said nothing but went into the house and got his gun. He had no "cartridge" and he put a sixpence in the gun and when the hare came out of the byre he fired at her and hit her in the eye with a sixpence.
The next day he was going by the woman's house and she was outside and he saw that she had only one eye, so he knew that it was she who was stealing the milk. Some people say it is unlucky to make a match on May day.
