- One of the first poems composed by the poet had reference to a ball or spree held at Billywood about the year 1820.
It was held shebeen house and as the entire performance was opposed to the law of the land the police arrived and under the direction of the Rev Robin Kellett magistrate of the district proceeded "to scatter the dance" Tevlin told the tale in verse thus:I
Come all you lads and lassies
That love mirth and jovial sport,
I hope you won't upraid me
Or say this is a false report.
These few verses I relate
Will be easily understood
Concerning a great banquet
Held one night in Billywood.
II
This festive invitation
Took place on Sunday night
There was great preparation
With rushes peeled for candle-light.
There was a band of youthful heroes
In St Path's flesh and blood
Circled round the tables
In a private inn in Billywood(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
