She forced him to take a red ribbon and she told him when he would want anything to tie the red ribbon round him and he would get whatever he wanted. When he went home he told his father about it. The father told him not to tie the red ribbon round him but to tie it round a tree to see what would happen. The boy did so, and the tree was lifted up and was thrown into the lake. That would have happened to the boy if he had tied the ribbon round him.
