- (continued from previous page)beloved cake. It was made from oaten meal. The meal was wet with hot water and mixed until it was in a ball. Then it was flattened out like a cake and laid until it would dry. Then it was left along the fire until it got hard. It was taken down then and left in a bag of meal until it was used.
