  1. My home is in the townland of Cordegan, in Larah parish, in County Cavan.
    The fields and rocks have all got names to know one from the other when we talk of them.
    The fields generally get their names from their situation, or from their natural characteristics as " The Long Meadow", "The Hill Field" "The field at the road".
    Some get their names from former owners as "McDonald's Bottom" "Barney's Acre".
    The "Quarry Rock" is so-called because there is a quarry opened in it. There is another rock called "Carraig-na-k-oir", but I don't know if gold was ever found there.
    Another rock is called "The Bell Rock", another "carraig na Lustre", and "Black Rock".
    "Black Rock" is so called because there are so many trees around it that the sunlight scarcely ever penetrates the leaves, and it is
