- Ballycurra - My Home District.The name of our District is Ballycurra. It is in the Parish of Hacke(s)tstown. There are three families inour Distrcit. There (is) are about eightenn people in the three families. Hefernan is the name most common. There are three old people in our District. They do not know any Irish because in their yout it was not taught They can tell good stories of the olden times. Those are the names of the old people. Mrs. Carthy Mr. Heffernan. Mr Flanagan.Long ago there were about ten houses around our District. They all had thatched roofs. Six of the Flanagan's and four of the Kinsella's, two of the Heffernan's went to America. Two other(e)s of the Heffernans went to Australia. Those(s) are the names of the people who went to America.
