  1. Old Crafts "Nail making"
    Some fifty years ago an industry that was carried on in this neighbour-hood was the making of nails, and the people who worked at this occupation were known as " Nailers".
    In this town ther were nine men who nade nails and these are ther names - Andrew Kerr, Anthonty Kerr, Matther Harnlon, JimWalsh, Jack Gleason, Christy Gleason, Henry Byrne, and two men who worked about a mile from the town, on the border of Wicklow and Kildare named Murphy.
    It is about fifty years ago since this industry was carried on round this neighbourhood.
    The tools that were used at this work were, a hammer, an anvil, and a rod of iron, as well as a fine irn which to heat the iron in order to thin it down to the correct thickness.
