- Around the country long ago the Irish people built raths. These raths were called different names such as, lisses, forts, shees. There are great numbers of those still.
Sometimes people imagine that they hear music in those raths, and that they see lights in them. Around them are walls built with trees or cement. People are afraid to take a bush out of a rath for they say it would set fire to their house.
Once upon a time a man was ploughing a field in which there was a rath and he ploughed two near the rath. Next morning there was two sods turned down, and the two horses died.- Bailitheoir
