  1. Not far from the townland where I live is another townland called Glebe. There is a well called St Brigit's well where the people go to pray of 1st February, St Brigits Day. There is a legend told by the old people that the white thorn bushes growing around the well should not be touched. One time a man named Caufile cut some of them for firewood, but when he put them on the fire, a great storm arose which nearly blew down the house. It did not cease, so he had to bring back the bushes and leave them in the same place From that day to this nobody has touched the bushes.
