- There is a large fort beyond the Castle hills. One very bright moonlight night a man went out with two dogs to look for rabbits near the fort. Everything was very still and quiet. Suddenly he heard three beats of a drum, then a bugle sounded, and then the sound of horses galloping very hard. He also heard chains rattling. His dogs yelped with fright and ran away as fast as they could go. He ran too and he could hear the horses plunging through the hedge and galloping after him. At last he arrived into his own yard and his two dogs were lying up on a hay rick very frightened. He went back the next day to see if the hedge was all broken down but there were no marks nor sign of any disturbance. He left the effects of the fright for several days.
Several other people have heard music as they passed near the fort.- Faisnéiseoir
