  1. There is the remains of an old Castle on the south side of the School. The O'Connor's of Offaly lived in this Castle. there was a Church near the Castle, but there is only the remains of it there now. There is a flat stone near the ruins of the Church where someone was buried. The Castle was divided into different stories and there were a lot of windows in it. When Cromwell was in he blew up the Castle. There is a rath in a field near the Castle and it is said that he put the big gun on it and blew down the Castle.
