    Old people long ago counted Thursday the lucky day. Now people get married on Wednesday the lucky day, and August the lucky month and invite all their friends and neighbours and have a great dance. A lot of straw boys gather in and dance, play music and make great fun.
    In this district most marriages are before Lent and Advent. The custom these days are the intended bridegroom with his friends drive in a motor car to the Parish Church. The bride with her friends arrive later. The marriage ceremony is performed followed by a Nuptial Mass.After the Mass the married pair with their witnesses sign the church register. Then the wedding party return to the bride's home or to a Hotel where the wedding breakfast is held. After breakfast there is usually dancing and singing before the wedding pair leave for their honeymoon. The custom years ago was different. There were no motor cars. the wedding parties drove on side cars.
