One youth he went for pleasure sir
Poor lad he perished too
'Twas in the summer fishing
That season of the year
They sailed away from Courtown,
From friends that loved them dear.v
They sailed out to the fishing ground,
They spent some time in prayer,
And like experienced fishermen
Their nets they shot with care.
When morning rose put on oil clothes
And then prepared to haul
And we are told she was capsized
All by a bitter squall.iv
Before I do lay down my pen
There's one request I crave
That you'll pray for those poor men
