This well was blessed by St. Nicholas himself.
It is impossible to boil water taken from the well. In olden times sick people went there and taking the water, made the Sign of the Cross three times. Many of them were cured.

Tradition says that there was a shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary here, and that after the Norman Invasion, it was plundered by a Norman Knight, who fell into a near-by lake and was drowned. This lake, which is situated about 3/4 mile from Screen village, is known as Loch na Piasra and got its name from the crest on the(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
