    A Funny Story
During the rebellion of 1898 there was a man called Hempenstall Dopping who used to hang men at the Moat in Granard.
One day he found a man hiding in Strong's fort he was bringing him in a cart to hang him He met a girl called Molly Mc Guire coming out of Granard and she asked him where he was going with the man "I am going to hang him" said Hempenstall.
"I will make a bargain with you and let him go and marry and let him not be disturbing the king of England
Then he agreed to let him go on that account
    Then said Hempenstall again
"The bargain is bad in every part" I'll let him go drive on the cart
There is a memorial Tablet to the Dopping Family in Granard Protestant Church
