    Bread
    Long ago bread was made from corn and wheat and the flour was made locally
    Long ago querns or grindstones were used in our district and the remains of one is in Higgins in the townland of Killeen still
    Potato - bread, boxty - bread and Oaten - meal bread were made in our district.
    Oaten bread was made of oaten meal and water and boxty was made of grated potatoes and a cross was always cut on the top of it because it was easy to cut it
    Pot- oven was the name of the vessel in which the bread was baked and oaten bread was baked standing against a support while the support was called the "stand" and often Griddle bread was made
