- The Night of the Big Wind
The night of the big wind is still a topic of conversation occasionally amongst the old people of this locality. The date of this big wind was - 6th January 1839.
- James Rogers tells of how his father told him that on that night the stones were taken out of the hob and the kindlings were put in for safe keeping until next morning. He also tells of how a poor woman who lived near at hand had her cabin blown down. She arrived at his house and when she opened the door the back wall was blown out of the house. After that happening they went out & let out the cows & when they let out the cows the byre door was blown down. He says that he heard it was a very(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
