He went up on the top of Tristernagh Abbey to look for a jackdaws nest. He took off one boot to try to take up the eggs with his toes. The nest went to the bottom of the Abbey with him about sixty feet below. When he went down to the bottom the fireplace happened to be built up. He had to fight his way back up inside the chimney with his knees and elbows and the foot on which he had no boot. It took him three hours to get to the top. Only he had the boot off he would never have seen the top.
