    Now-adays it is quite different. The matches are made long before the wedding takes place. Long ago the weddings used to last for a couple of days.
    During the wedding day there used to be a horse-race for a five naggin bottle of whiskey presented by the bride. All guests competed in the race and the winner got the whiskey.

  2. Years ago in Ireland marriage customs were very different from what they are nowadays. It was during Shrove that marriages most frequently took place.
