  1. Local Poet
    Peter Mac Connell, Lisnaboy, Tierworker, Bailieboro composed a number of poems. He was a farmer and died about 5 years ago. He was aged about 70 years. He wrote the following funny poem about the townland of Blackballs which is situated in the Parish of Moybologue and about three miles from Bailieboro and given here by the compiler of this book.
    In this Island of Saints there is a spot to be found.
    Where a very large number of sinners abound,
    Unfortunate wretches, both women and men,
    Who were born, nursed, suckled and reared up in sin
    It was said when St Patrick was
