  1. Long ago there lived in Athboy a landlord named Sean Ruagh Dyas. He was also landlord of Staholmog and he owned all the land in it. He treated the poor people very badly, he put them out of their houses and levelled them to the ground and after he built ditches where the houses had been. If he caught any of the tenants cutting timber on the land he would summon them. There was an ochard also on the and and some men got a month in prison for stealing the apples. There was one man called Thomas Reilly whom the people called the “Gripper”
