  1. I have seen many kinds of birds around Kells but the one I shall tell you about is the pigeon.
It builds its nest up high in the bell tower, I got to it by steps.
The nest is made of twigs about six inches long, and mud to (ge) keep them together. Boys are told if they. rob any kind of nest they will be pout in gaol.
People say here that when you see the swallow flying low that is a sign of bad weather.
The robin has a story which I have often heard. "When our Savour was beiging cricified the robin was under the cross and it looked up and got a spot of blood on its breast and now all robins have red breasts.
The thrush is a very sweet singer. It builds its nest in a quiet place so that nobody can disturb it. Her best is built of sticks, when it has the nest shaped with sticks it gets mud and pat's it with the back of its head to make it smooth.
